If this summer you are on holiday on the Adriatic Riviera, here I am with some suggestions to spend a few evenings in the company of art and beauty.
Mosaico di notte is a series of events that take place every Tuesday and Friday night, except from August 8th, and that involve several structures in Ravenna.
Some of Ravenna’s most fascinating UNESCO sites such as the Basilica of San Vitale, and the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia will be extraordinarily open from 9 to 11.00 pm.
On reservation you will be also able to see the Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra and the Cripta Rasponi, with its gardens of ancient herbs. In my opinion these locations will be really appreciated by the ones that are interested in archaeology.
In homage to Sant’Apollinare, patron of the city, Ravenna will also be animated, from July 17th to July 24th, by guided tours, walks, concerts, meetings and liturgies in various sites of the center and the periphery.
Moreover Ravenna Bella di Sera is a full calendar of events in Piazza del Popolo, on the Square of the Basilica of San Francesco and on the Square of the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore. The shows will have musical and poetical character, and they will be a worthy setting for the 54th edition of the International Festival of Pipe Organ Music, which will take place from July 27th to August 24th in the Basilica of San Vitale.
From July 3rd to August 21st, every Friday at 6 pm free guided tours by Quattro Passi per l’Arte, will take you to discover Ravenna’s State sites, as the Arian Baptistery, the Museo Nazionale di Ravenna, the Mausoleum of Theoderic and the Basilicaof Sant’Apollinare in Classe.
On July 28, at 7 pm the Archaeological Park of Classe will also inaugurate. A full calendar of events curated by RavennAntica entitled “L’Antico Porto al chiaro di Luna al Parco Archeologico di Classe”will enliven the evenings of Tuesday and Thursday.
Finally, from Saturday 18 to Monday 20 July a fantastic projection from whose title is “Universal presences: Hell in the dock”, will revive the sky above the dock.
As usual, throughout the whole summer, the city centre will be animated by late openings, live concerts organized by the local trade associations, and Fatto ad Arte, a Hobby and Creativity market.
